When you see disasters on the news (tornadoes, floods, terrorism, blizzards, etc.), ever wonder what happens to:
Hospital Patients?
Nursing Home Patients?
Dementia Patients?
The Elderly?
Visually or Hearing Impaired?
Ventilator, Dialysis or Feeding Tube Patients?
Home-Bound Individuals?
Mentally Ill (Inpatients)?
Hospice Patients?
We did. Events like 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina showed us that so many senseless injuries and deaths to the elderly and other functional needs patients could have been avoided with prior preparation. How long would a dementia or hospital patient survive in a local gymnasium or community center? What if that was your grandmother? spouse? child? uncle? laying on a cot in a local gymnasium, confused, scared, and vulnerable?
This is why we need your help at CHUG. Responding to those who require special help when their home facility is no longer functional, is extremely challenging, complicated and costly. Did you know that there are currently no paid employees at CHUG, yet we are on call 24/7/365, we have grown to almost 400 member facilities, we have successfully responded to every activation, and we still run the day-to-day operations.
If you care about the elderly, the sick, or the disabled, we need your help to ensure that they remain safe during disasters.
Please Help Us Continue To Respond To Those Who Need It Most.

Not Just An Idea
The CHUG program is not an idea or theory, we have been activated multiple times prior to 2011, and 9 times affecting close to 20 facilities over the summer of 2011 alone. With more members come more activations. Our volunteers remain ready to respond. To view actual activations, please see "Think It Won't Happen".
